Programming and Applications I

This course introduces fundamental programming concepts using the Python language. Students will learn how to design algorithms, use basic data types and control structures, write functions, and develop problem-solving skills through hands-on exercises and mini-projects.

Week 1: Local Git & First Steps in Python

Overview of programming fundamentals, Git basics, and version control setup.
Week 2: Input, Types, Error Handling & GitHub

User input, Python types and basic conversions, simple error handling with try/except; remotes and GitHub basics.
Week 3: Branching Logic & Decisions

Python conditionals (`if / elif / else`) and upgrading the console calculator to run the user-selected operation.
Week 4: Loops & Lists — From Variables to Student Records

Introduce `for` loops and Python lists; refactor a student “mini-automation” from many variables to list-based data.
